What's been happening
Year 7 students have begun the year in Science with an introductory course focused on Science skills, such as safety, observation and experimentation. They have acquired their Bunsen Burner licence to show that they can correctly and safely use a Bunsen burner.
Year 8 students spent term 1 studying Biology with a focus on cells, the building blocks of living things. They have used microscopes to view plant and animal cells to learn about their structure. They also completed an investigation to see if they could discover a plant around the School that had antimicrobial properties.
Year 9 students have spent term 1 learning about human body systems. This involved the dissection of a brain to better understand the nervous system.
In Year 10, half of the students have begun the year learning about Physics, specifically motion and forces. One popular activity here is the making and launching of rockets to investigate motion.
The other half of Year 10 have been learning about classical genetics and inheritance.
