Junior School News

FOUNDATION

WE HAVE BEEN AT SCHOOL FOR 100 DAYS!! Can you believe it? We have grown and developed so many skills. We are going to celebrate this milestone on Friday  14th August with classroom activities around the number 100. We will also share some food together at lunchtime.

JUNIOR SCHOOLHoop Time

What a fun (and noisy) day we had at Kilsyth Stadium on Friday 31st July. The morning session saw students from the Junior level developing their skills in a basketball clinic. After a short break for lunch it was onto a series of modified basketball games where students could put their new skills to work on the court! For many of our Year 1 students it was a great introduction to the game, and we were proud to see students from KPS participating with a spirit of fair play. Well done Juniors!

Our thanks go to some very helpful parent volunteers on the day, Sharon Sticht and Kerrie Phillips. Thank you both so much for all that you did on the day, it was greatly appreciated by all. Thank you also to the parents who came along to see their children in action and offer words of encouragement from the sidelines.

Mrs Sargood Incursion

On Tuesday 4th August we had a special day where the Junior students got to experience what it was like to go to school in the ‘Olden Days’. The children looked wonderful in their old fashioned clothes, with many bringing their lunch to school in a paper bag. We even had one student bring their lunch in a billycan!

As part of the day students played old fashioned games and made scones. A special highlight on the day was a visit from Mrs Sargood. This was an opportunity for students to come face-to-face with a character from the past. Mrs Sargood took our Junior classes for a lesson on life at school 150 years ago and students were excited to have a chance to write with an ink nib pen. They were also entertained by Mrs Sargood’s descriptions of the punishments given to students a long time ago.
