Year 11 Captain's Report
We hope everyone has been able to settle into a great routine now that we are over half way through this first term.
We know most of us have gotten used to and are definitely grateful for the toasted sandwich machines and hot water found in the VCE kitchen space.
As first SAC’s have taken place, we also hope that everyone has taken the opportunity to learn from these results, whether it was what you expected or not, in order to improve throughout the rest of this year. Let’s keep improving!
Just remember that Year 11 is a practice run for Year 12 so we may as well try our hardest, and just do it.
Last Friday, March 8 was International Women’s Day. This day gave everyone the chance to honour and admire the courageous efforts made by women everyday to achieve a more balanced and equal society.
If you have the opportunity, please take the time to watch the short documentary on Netflix titled ‘Period. End of Sentence', which details the social taboos that still exist and their effects on the quality of life for women all over the world.
Hopefully we all know the difference between left and right because if you’re not right, you’ll get left behind!
Just a few weeks ago, our Year 11s started Deb practice to learn some of the choreography for the big night! We hope everyone is doing their best to remember the dances, but don’t forget to have fun and enjoy it! It’s okay to make mistakes, it will all work out!

VCE Silent Study Room
Room V8 is the new SILENT STUDY ROOM for VCE students.
Students wishing to use this space to study, will need to visit the VCE Office and speak to a Coordinator to sign-in. They will also need to take a numbered card from the folder and replace it with their student card.
This room is being tightly monitored to ensure that students have a silent area to study in and complete work.
Year 12 Breakfasts
From 8.00 am to 8.25 am every Friday, Year 12 students can enjoy a positive, social and nutritious start to the day 😊 Happy FRIDAY!!!
Gratitude Board
Students can reflect on what they are grateful for as they pass the Gratitude Board outside Room V5, in the VCE corridor.
VCE SAC'S
A reminder that if your child misses a School Assessed Coursework (SAC) they must get a medical certificate to enable them to sit the SAC in the next available IPT time slot.
Students will not be granted SAC redemption unless they have a medical certificate or it is a school-approved absence. If there are extenuating circumstances please let us know and we will make a decision based on the VCAA guidelines.
The times for SACs are:
- Monday SAC Redemption 3 - 4.30 pm
- Tuesday during IPT, Periods 5 and 6
- Thursday during IPT, Periods 5 and 6
- Friday during IPT, Period 6 (one period SAC only).
Attendance /Absences
It is a requirement at Lilydale High School that students attend all timetabled classes so that teaching and learning opportunities can be maximised.
If students have reached their limit for absences from class, there is an opportunity for this time to be redeemed. Students can speak to their Year Level Coordinator to discuss making this time up at lunchtime, during afternoon Study Periods or after school.
Furthermore, it is a requirement that students attend Home Group, even if they have Study Periods, Periods 1 and 2.
Any absences from school must be parent/guardian approved. You can do this through a signed note or you can approve your child’s absences via the Parent Approval Button on Compass.
You can also use Compass to view your student’s past absences.
