Year 9A Exploring Drama

Recently, Miss Goode’s Year 9A Exploring Drama class performed two student run shows during lunchtime.

The play was called ‘We Are Masks’ and was about the struggles that high school students go through when they have to hide who they really are behind a ‘mask’.

Other than the 3 student directors, all students had a character role in the play as well as a production (backstage) role.

Production roles included; publicity, promotion and program, costume, hair and makeup, set design and props, sound and lighting, direction/producer and backstage crew.

All students auditioned for a role and had to write a written application for a production role.

After the play was cast, rehearsals began. With three periods, one lunchtime and an hour after school a week, everyone put in heaps of effort to make this play the best it could be.

Besides casting, advice and some help providing items, Ms Goode left the students to their own, so that the play would be almost entirely a student run performance.

All of us have enjoyed this experience and responsibility a lot.  It was definitely a highlight of the year!
