Parent/Carer Communication @ MFG

Over the course of the 2018 MFG school year parents and carers of our students will have probably received documentation with my name on it. This is because part of my leadership role is ‘Parent Learning’ and that encompasses areas of communication to our families. One of the challenges of communication is to use what works best, and we all have different preferences. Generally we communicate through the Newsletter, Text notifications, email, phone, Compass, mail outs, hard copies of documents given to students and Newsfeed posts. These may be to the families of just one student, a class of students, a year level of students, specific cohorts or the whole school.

As you could imagine this is a bit like a juggling act where I hope there are enough balls in the air, traveling to the right places and at the right time.

One of our main goals this year has been to distribute documentation in packages rather than a drip feed of lots of ‘bits of paper’. For example, parents and carers should have seen this with the information about Pathway and Subject Selection for 2019, where packages/envelopes were distributed in term three to help make the process smooth.

My role does not include processes about absences, camps, excursions or communication from the House Leaders or specific classroom teachers.
