Hobson’s Bay City Council April School Holiday Program

The April School Holiday Program is organised and designed by Hobsons Bay City Council's Youth Services team. The programs are free, designed and promoted to engage young people aged 12-17 years of age during the school holidays. 

Peace out Tie Dye T-Shirt (Tuesday 11 April)

Time: 12.30pm to 3pm

Where: Newport Community Hub

What:  Participants get to learn the amazing arts of tie dye onto a T-Shirt to keep! All materials provided including white T-shirt.

What the Deuce Tennis (Thursday 13 April)

Time: 11am to 2.30pm

Where: Donald Mclean Reserve, Spotswood

What: Try out Tennis if you’re a newbie or just come along for the fun if you’re more experienced! A day of basic tennis skills and skill-building activities. 

Make, bake, and decorate your own cupcakes (Friday 14 April) 

Time: 12.30pm to 3.30pm

Location: TBC

What: Bake cupcakes and adorn them with your own decorations! Learn to pipe icing for the most Instagrammable treats. 

Stitching Sashiko Style (Tuesday 18 April) 

Time: 12.30pm to 3.30pm

Location: Newport Community Hub

What: Learn Sashiko, a traditional Japanese stitching technique used to reinforce or mend clothes. It is particularly decorative and can be used in all sorts of creative ways. You will also find out about mending, a lovely, layered method using Sashiko stitching.

Drop-In Jam Sessions + New Skills (Thursday 20 April)Time: 12.30pm to 3.30pm

Location: Newport Community Hub

What: Open access to the studio and adjacent room to jam with other musicians. Learn a new skill while you’re here! E.g. ‘How to restring your guitar’ ‘Song writing Tips & Sharing Session’. First 30-60 minutes is the specific ‘skill’ session, remaining time is the ‘jam’. 

Just Dance & Karaoke NEON disco (Friday 21 April)

Time: 4pm – 7pm

Where: Newport Community Hub

What:  Enjoy a motion-based dance video on big-screen for multiple players, with each game including a collection of fun classics and modern songs each with its own dance.
