SSGs
Please ensure to communicate a time to book an SSG with your child's teacher if you have not yet done this. SSGs will run after school for another two weeks.
Mother's Day Stall
Thank you to all the parents and carers who were able to send along some money for their child to participate in the Mother's Day stall. Our students really enjoyed being able to 'go shopping' at school and choose a gift for someone special at home. This is also a way for students to experience money and purchasing an item in a safe and familiar environment.
Swimming
Our swimming program will begin on 29th May, and the students will swim every day for one week. If your child has not been to the Broadmeadows Aquatic and Leisure Centre, I recommend that you take them for a swim there before we go on this excursion to familiarise them with a different environment. Social stories about going swimming will be distributed prior to the excursion. It's important to read these to your child a couple of times in the days leading up to going swimming.
Many thanks to parents who have volunteered to help with the excursion and have provided a Working With Children's Check. If you would like to attend the excursion and change your child, you may do so in the individual change rooms, which we can direct you to when we are at the centre.
The Room 7 classroom has been doing a remarkable job at following school expectations, engaging in learning activities, and of course, having some fun at school along the way! Sinead is the Casual Relief Teacher in Room 7 this term, We have also welcomed Brooke, an Education Support staff member who is working in Room 7. Both these staff have been enjoying building positive relationships with students. Next week we welcome a new student, Kiann, to Room 7. The Room 7 students are very excited to have another student in their room. Welcome Kiann! Despite some changes in the classroom, Room 7 have been able to maintain a regular routine and engage in their learning tasks.
Last week Room 7 went to the kitchen for Cooking, as part of the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program. The students liked putting on their aprons and following all the steps to bake cookies. It was definitely a highlight!
Other activities the students have enjoyed have included phonics work, recounting their weekend , counting activities and craft.
