With winter looming, we will likely see a rise in COVID-19 cases again. The climate and the way our behaviour changes at this time of year increases the transmission potential for all infectious respiratory diseases. The cycle of subvariants will leave us exposed and hasten the waning of immunity. And we'll spend more time together indoors. Please take the time to familiarise yourself with the current COVID-19 school operations advice for Victorian government school.

COVIDSafe measures

COVIDSafe measures have changed but all Victorian government schools are required to continue to implement important practices to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission. At JSA, we continue to take the important steps of ensuring that air purifiers are in use, external ventilation is maximised, good personal hygiene is maintained and face masks continue to be made available for those who wish to wear them.

Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs)

We recommend students to use RATs if they have symptoms of COVID-19, no matter how mild, or if they are a household or close contact of someone who has COVID-19. Students (or their parents) should report a positive result to the school by phone or written notification.

Management of suspected case of COVID-19 in schools

We will contact parents of students who are symptomatic to ask them to collect their child from school and to keep them home until they are no longer symptomatic. Students who isolate as a result of a positive COVID-19 test will be supported in the same way as students with an extended absence due to illness or injury, with learning materials provided to support their continued learning. Please note that there is no longer a requirement for principals to inform the school community of a positive case associated with the school.

Thank you for keeping our community safe and being considerate of those who are vulnerable.
