Swimming

On Tuesday 28th March, Bethany (Grade 4) competed at the SSV Regional Swimming Championships. Bethany swam in the Under 10’s, 50m Freestyle event and ended up placing fourth. Bethany was very determined to walk away with a ‘personal best’ and was excited and proud of herself as she ended up swimming with a PB of 38.6 seconds.

This was a fantastic opportunity for Bethany to compete against students from other schools.

On behalf of the St. John’s community, we would like to congratulate Bethany for her sensational efforts.  We are extremely proud and can’t wait to see where Bethany's swimming opportunities take her in the future.

Exhibition

It filled our hearts with joy to see all the families - parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters - who came through our ‘Where Connections Gather and Grow’ exhibition on Tuesday and Wednesday. The exhibition was a celebration of our children’s learning throughout the first project, where they were able to explore the concepts of connectioncommunication and how groups work. From the Prep Hub discovering how groups are often formed on friendships and common interests, to the Five/Six Hub investigating how spaces can affect how groups operate and making prototypes to pitch a redevelopment of a St. John’s space - there were certainly many discoveries made.

Next term we will begin work on our second project, ‘Small Object, Big Story’. This project will explore stories and the concept of perception and shine a light on the History curriculum. To support the launch of this project, we are asking children to bring in an object on the first day of Term 2 that symbolises a story/memory from your family’s history. This could be a type of food (recipe, cooking utensil), a photograph of a memorable holiday, a (not overly fragile) family heirloom or something important you or your child has had since they were born.

Please see your child’s Learning and Teaching leader if you require further clarification - Lauren (Prep), Mairead (1-3) or Amy (4-6).

Thank you for your ongoing support to reimagine how learning can come to life at St. John’s. See you next term!
