Directly funded by the Department, eligible participants can obtain an accredited swimming teacher qualification and CPR qualification to work with the Department swimming programs.

So why would I become a swimming instructor?

Teaching swimming with the Department provides access to great opportunities and employee benefits including:

  • a competitive salary;
  • great hours;
  • friendly, supportive teams;
  • leadership opportunities; and
  • work at over 180 locations across WA.

  • Complete up to 30 hours of self-paced on-line learning.
  • Participate in industry training – completed in a Department of Education specially designed training hub under the guidance of a Trainer. Ongoing support and mentoring will be provided to all trainees.
