Living the Gospel
On April 25, some students represented the school at 5:30 in the morning, at the ANZAC Dawn Service at Halliday Park.
It started in silence when everyone stood reverently gathered around a statue of a soldier, with two flags on either side of it.
The two flags were at half mast and one of the flags was the Australian flag and the other flag was the New Zealand flag. Someone playing a bagpipe walked into the circle of people, joining the group. Next, a bugle played the Last Post and there was a minute of silence.
Different schools and communities read or sang poems and songs. Eventually, while the bagpipe was playing, they let people put down wreaths and two students added a wreath from St James. Someone sang the National Anthem and then the ceremony concluded.
Afterwards, there was a lovely breakfast that people were welcomed to. All in all, it was a great experience and a special time to remember all the soldiers who fought bravely for us.
