As a part of the Jackson Social Skills Initiative this week your child learned about sharing. Teaching students how to share is helpful in giving them tools and strategies to share information in conversation and share items of interest with those around them. This is important for developing social relationships and employability skills.
Teaching your child to share is as simple as:
1. Modelling sharing using play (e.g. using puppets that share toys)
2. Sharing information during reading or conversation
Over the course of the week students have practiced sharing by engaging in conversations about things they have or want and sharing toys within play.
Students used AAC (Alternative and Augmentative Communication) this included learning the signs for 'have’ and ‘want’.
Check out the AAC in Action this week!
