Grade 2 Planks Incursion with Greenhat workshops

Incursion! By Ivy 2MD

This morning 2MD and 2W went to the hall to an incursion. The incursion was all about what the best ways were to stabilise the planks.

My group was Marhli, Kenda and Aria. We were building a village. I built: trees, play centre, maze, town house. Those are all the things I built.

It was so much fun! Creating building and construction and working on how to stabilise the planks.

In about half way through the lesson Cam, which was our teacher stopped us to talk to us. He said “ you are allowed to copy other peoples ideas to make other things.” So we did. My other team mates Kenda, Marhli and Aria built: pool, slide, something else I don't know.

Then we had to pack up. Cam’s 3 rules of packing up with planks were:

Keep calm
Only knock down your construction
Don't throw planks

When we were done we sat on the floor Cam did a sweep through of questions. Then we thanked Cam and went.

On Monday 15th of May, me, Hunter and Bill started building a game room. Cam took a photo of me, Hunter and Bill. I got inspired by Archie, Sonny and Kai. Then I went to go ask Ashton, Kai, Koa and Lossie if I could help them build the train tracks of the train. They asked me if I could build the train station. I said yes. After a little bit I went to Mrs McEvoy, Tom and Oscar. I built a tall tower out of bricks. It was a Fortnite building and then Cam said it was pack up time. Me and Tom and Oscar packed up every single clock. Then we got to knock Mrs McEvoy’s down.

Planks Incursion By Kenda 2MD

At the hall we had a planks incursion. First I was working with Marhli and we were building with plants. We built a pool. Next I went over to build with Ivy, Marhli came with me. Marhli, Ivy and me were now building a garden. It had a maze and a slide pool and trees. It took a very long time but we made it. The was the end.

Planks Incursion By Kai 2W

On Monday we had a incursion about planks. A plank is a little rectangle that is 3D. So after that we got to play with them! Me and Leo built a tower. And we put 8 blocks in the tower. And the tower was taller than me! It nearly fell over so I held it. After a few minutes it fell so then me, Archie, Leo and Sonny teamed up and built a massive house! Then we packed up and sat down on the floor and talked about stuff. Cam said there was 20,000 blocks! After the talk we had to go back to our classrooms to eat fruit and snack.

Planks Incursion By Addions 2W

“CRASH!” That is the sound of bricks falling! The grade 2’s had an incursion this morning with Cam. He works at Greenhat. He brought nearly 20,000 bricks. We built towers and we built a house for my toy Quokka. Finally, we packed up and we did a sweep around for questions.

Planks Incursion By Carter 2W

We all had the best morning ever! First all the Grade 2’s walked to the hall, and we met Cam. He told us that the blocks were 3 dimensional shapes, he also told us that they have 8 corners and 12 sides. After we used the blocks to make anything we wanted. Me and Hudson built 2 towers and a temple.

So proud of the progress our kids are making in their writing. They have only been at school for 60 days at the time of this newsletter! Well done Maggie… she is an inspiration to her class.
