Mathematics Faculty
Another term has flown by and it certainly feels nice to have the students back into a somewhat normal routine.
Our Stage 4 students have been working with Rates, Ratios, Pythagoras and Probability. You may have noticed that we are back to implementing weekly homework that is set through MathsOnline. We are finding this a very successful tool for reinforcing concepts for our students and have definitely had a noticeable improvement in information retention. We would like to thank the vast majority of our students who are consistently completing these tasks to support their learning in the classroom.
In Stage 5, students have been learning about Probability, Measurement, Trigonometry and Graphs on the Cartesian Plane. It is nice to see students making connections between different content areas and understanding concepts.
Our Year 11 students have completed their courses and engaging in their first formal exam experience. The results of these exams will assist them to make informed choices regarding their Year 12 course selections and of course the Maths teachers are happy to help with this process.
Year 12 have completed all course work and Trial HSC exams as well as many revision lessons with their teachers. We wish them all the very best for their HSC exams and beyond. Please remember to keep studying and communicate with your teachers whenever you need assistance. We are more than happy to help out.
Could I please remind all parents and students of the importance of attending class and being well prepared. This includes having a pen, a Maths book, a calculator and a positive attitude.
As always, the Maths faculty would like to wish everyone a safe and happy holidays and we look forward to Term 4.
