VCAL

Killester College was mentioned in the ANZAC Day Schools Awards 2022 as a 'Certificate of Excellent' winner. The entry was created and completed by the Year 11 and 12 VCAL students themselves and included their activities in running an ANZAC Ceremony at St Joseph's Primary School, running classroom activities with Grades 3/4, sending letters of thanks to Vietnam Veterans and running their own reflections in the chapel.

Well done VCAL students on all your work!

VCAL Leader

On Friday 2nd September, periods 3 & 4 we had a guest speaker, Maree Davenport who was a former politician/MP and is now an advocate for gender equality come in and talk to us about various things.

Throughout the session, she spoke about her many personal experiences in regards to mistreatment due to being a woman, and along with that, gave us some advice to take and consider for our future. We were given insight on each of our career pathways at the end of the session with Maree Davenport.

Maree Davenport: She came and talked to us about women's rights, her story and experience in politics. She taught us very useful advice and was so kind to take interest in our career paths. I was so honoured to have taken a photo with her in front of the building she had opened!

Trish Phan has been completing a work placement helping Era Gonzales in the Killester College Labs in Terms 2 and 3.

Some of the jobs I had to do were - cleaning out the fish tank and feeding Lester the turtle, organising what was required for experiments, helping Year 7 and 8 students with experiments and making squishy dough for Year 8's. I enjoyed it a lot and I wish to thank Mrs Gonzales for providing me with this opportunity.
