Cluster Science Day

What a successful and fun day we had hosting five other small schools on the last Wednesday of Term 3! Over 150 students joined us to take part in six science activities, each led by one of the schools in our Campaspe Small Schools Cluster. Students learnt about gravity and wind resistance, robotics, mixing solids and liquids, physical sciences, flight and chemical reactions.

Our school is so fortunate to have such a large expanse of space, meaning we could easily host such a large event and of course we love an opportunity to showcase our school. Staff and students from the visiting schools were all very impressed with our facilities and organisation of the event.

CBCA Special Event

On the last Thursday of Term 3, our school was fortunate to be invited to Kangaroo Flat Primary School to meet Claire Saxby (an award winning author of children's books) and Jess Racklyeft (an award winning illustrator), both of these talented ladies worked together to create the picture story book, Iceberg. This book won a gold medal as the best children's picture book of the year.

We had been studying this book in class so were very familiar with the story.

The children were extremely engaged during the presentation and asked some great questions, which impressed both Claire and Jess who commented on their knowledge of the book. Our students even got to hold the precious gold medals that they had won.

We joined the Kangaroo Flat pupils for lunch, which was delicious and then some of our students were selected to be interviewed for a presentation to be put on YouTube at a later date. We have also been gifted a selection of books that Claire and Jess have written/illustrated and we know these will soon become some of our most favourite books.

We then were able to design a board game with Mrs. G before we jumped on the bus back to school.

Thank you to Mrs. G for organsing this special event for us. Students and staff were blown away by this amazing opportunity.

Kelly Sports

As most of you already know, we have been very fortunate to have had the opportunity during Term 3 to have weekly sports sessions run by Kelly Sports. Coach Beau and his crew were very accommodating in structuring their program to align with sporting activities that we had occurring at school such as Athletics, Winter Sports and our end of term Footy Day.

The majority of students attended one or multiple sessions ran by Kelly Sports over the school holidays and from all reports, had a blast! We are so grateful to the team at Kelly Sports for working with us to provide this unique opportunity for our students over the school holidays.

Year 6

Yesterday our Year 6 students took delivery of their new tops. These handsome young men are also doubling as models for our new school tops. As our previous supplier has gone out of business and we are no longer able to purchase the school shirts we currently sell to students, we have sourced a new supplier and the design and fabric have changed slightly- we think the fabric on the new shirts will last longer and suits different body shapes better- so that is a bonus!

We will continue to sell the original version of the tops that we already have in supply but once they are sold out, we will order the new look tops.

Of course our Year 6 students have an added extra on the back of their shirts to commemorate their status as our 2022 Graduating Class. Speaking of graduation, we will be sending home some information to our Year 6 Families early next week regarding preparation and arrangements for our Year 6 Farewell Dinner and presentations; so keep an eye out!
