Term 4

A very warm welcome back to our wonderful students, supportive families and hard working staff. This term is longer than the usual 10 weeks- seeing us go into Week 12 before we finish up for the year; which is just as well, because there are lots of events happening to keep us busy.

Please make sure that you keep an eye on the Dates To Remember page for upcoming events, which are also on the calendar on our school webpage.

Term 3 ended with an extremely busy and exciting three days. We hosted the cluster science day at Raywood on the Wednesday (see next page for all of the details), then on Thursday we were so excited to meet award winning author, Claire Saxby and illustrator, Jess Racklyeft (full report on the following page). The week/term concluded on Friday with a Footy Colours Day, with Kelly Sports, a dress up day and a special lunch made by Mr Collins and Bree. We needed the two weeks holiday just to recover!

Farewell Leanne

Leanne Holm our Education Support worker resigned at the end of Term 3. Leanne has worked in our school for many years, supporting our funded students with their classwork and social skills to help them be successful at school. Over her time here, Leanne also contributed greatly to whole school and specialised programs such as graduation, fundraising events, special event days and school organisation. We wish to take this opportunity to thank Leanne for all of her work and wish her well for any future endevours.

Camp- Year 5/6 Camp to Anglesea

This camp will take place from Tuesday October 18th to Thursday October 20th. Mr Collins will accompany the students on this camp (as Miss Duffy is still recovering from the Year 4 camp!).

Yesterday, our Year 5/6 student  received a pack with camp information and forms. Could families please ensure they read the information and return the required forms to school by Monday. Please keep the information forms with clothing requirements and contact information.

If families have any questions or concerns that they wish to discuss, please contact Lisa or Hayden.

School Council News

At our last meeting, which was held in the final week of term, School Council endorsed the following:

Pupil Free Days: Friday October 21st (day after 5/6 Camp) - this will be a Curriculum Day for ALL students.

Monday December 12th- this will be a staff Professional Practice Day for the purposes of report writing and first aid training.

Tuesday December 20th- this will be a Curriculum Day for staff to complete 2023 planning. (This means our students will officially finish their school year on Monday December 19th).

We also said a sad farewell to Yoli Humphries our School Council President. Yoli has served on school council for a number of years and has been invaluable as not only a school council member but a parent volunteer over the years. Yoli has had her daughter Coliope graduate from Raywood Primary School and her son Clancy spent just under 5 years at our school. We wish them all the very best as they settle into their new home town of Broome in WA.

Our next School Council Meeting is on Monday October 24th at 5.30pm.

That's all for this week- Lisa Duffy

Scholastic - Book Fair

Dear Parents and Families,

Our school is hosting a Scholastic Book Fair Starting on Monday the 10/10/22 this will run until Friday the 14/10/22 .

You and your child will have the opportunity to explore a huge range of affordable books featuring characters and subjects kids love and want to read about. From newly released books and bestsellers to award-winning titles and perennial favourites.

This is also a great way for you to learn about, and discuss your child's interests and every book sold benefits our school, adding resources to our library and classrooms.

Scholastic Book Fairs help us show students the wonder of reading. After all, when kids choose their own books, they will be more excited to read, and they will naturally read more!

Come by at anytime between 8.30 -4.00 and support our school whilst getting your hands on the best new children’s books!

We will send a Brochure home and a Order form home with the kids in case you are not able to come into School.
