Level 3 Camp

From Monday 29th to Wednesday 31st August our Level 3 students attended Camp Adanac in beautiful Yarra Junction. Students participated in activities such as Archery, Canoeing, Water Slides and Bush Walks while developing their independence and peer connections. I attended all three days of this camp - my first time on Level 3 Camp - and it was just wonderful! A beautiful location and fantastic facilities. Our students are very lucky to have access to this experience.

The Fathering Project LEGO Event

On Sunday 28th August our wonderful Fathering Project leaders, Simon Tan and Chris Roche, ran a hugely successful LEGO event. More than 100 families attended this LEGO building afternoon and it was fabulous to see so many creations coming to life in the enthusiastic hands of our students! The sausage sizzle was delicious and raised funds for the school, and our own LEGO Master - Mr Evans was in attendance to support and guide our mini builders along with Gabby his partner in LEGO. Thank you to Bricks 4 Kidz for supporting the day. We even had a special guest video message from Hamish!

It was a huge success - what a fabulous way to build our community.

2022 Parent / Carer Opinion Survey

The Parent Opinion Survey is still open for all families to complete. The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education and Training that is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. We encourage all families to participate in this survey. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.

We will resend the link to complete the survey via email next week. The Survey is open until Friday 16th September.

COVID Update

Rapid Antigen Testing kits are still being distributed to families fortnightly however the requirement to test twice a week is no longer in place. Families are being asked to test if their child has symptoms or if there is a Family Contact at home and the child is attending school. This is in place for teaching staff also. These tests need to happen each day for the 5 days the family contact comes to school.

There is a continued level of absence in staff and students due to illness – much of this is not covid related.

Facilities Update

Our new Senior Toilet block is well underway now with the walls sheeted and plastered ready for painting. The new toilets, urinals and tapware are on the way and expected to arrive in the next few weeks. The project is on time and expected to be complete ready for use in Term 4.

Our new Inclusive Playground plans have been finalised with the first meeting with builders scheduled for this week. We expect works to commence before the end of term. The works will continue over the Term 4 period and we expect the Playground to be complete ready for use in Term 1 - 2023.
