MUSIC NEWS

What an amazing end to the year we have had.
The Junior Concert, our final large event for the year, was held on Wednesday 4 December to a large receptive crowd. Congratulations to all students and music directors involved from the Bands and Strings from Year 7 and 8, the Ovenden Band, Symphonic Strings, String Quartet, Clarinet Choir and the Intermediate Stage Band. The level of musicianship demonstrated on this evening was very impressive.
It was fantastic to see many people supporting our students as they performed in the Glen Eira Carols by Candlelight on Sunday 8 December. Congratulations to both the Senior Singers and the Clarinet Choir who provided much entertainment in very windy conditions. Thank you also to Ms Blanka West and Ms Su Rogerson for their organisation of these groups.
Congratulations to the Alumni Orchestra and the Choir who performed at a concert in the School Hall on Sunday 8 December. The crowd were encouraged to join in many Christmas Carols to celebrate the festive season. Thanks to Mr Tony Brookes and Ms Blanka West for their organisation of this event.
Congratulations and thank you to the Senior Stage Band who performed at the Year 7, 2014 Orientation sessions on the evening of Monday 9 December and to the Intermediate Stage Band who performed on the morning of Tuesday 10 December.
Senior Stage Band will be performing at Dizzy’s Jazz Club, 381 Burnley Street, Richmond on Monday 16 December from 7:30pm onwards. Parents and friends are encouraged to join with the Stage Band and help celebrate the end of an
era with the departure Mr Ian Orr. Food and drink will be available at the venue.
Finally, a few important notices regarding instruments: ·
- All personal instruments must be removed from the Music Locker areas by the end of Monday 16 December; and ·
- Instrumental hire forms for 2014 will be available in the new year.
Thank you for your ongoing support throughout the year. We wish you all a restful and musical holiday season.
