Our Fortnight in Review

Some happy snaps of our fortnight (including Curriculum Day).

National Families Week

National Families Week is held every year between 15 and 21 May and the enduring theme is ‘Stronger Families, Stronger Communities’. This theme continues to highlight the important role families play as the central building block of our communities and delivers the message that community wellbeing is enhanced by family wellbeing.

We have been having many discussions with the students about what family means to them and we would love you to join in by contributing some words about family on our display board (next to the ‘Program’ whiteboard).

We will also be providing a takeaway breakfast on Tuesday 21 May so please allow a bit of extra time to grab yourself a coffee and a yoghurt or croissant!

Our New OSHC Mascot

Report from Eddie O (5A)

In term one there was a mascot drawing competition where children could draw their own mascot for after school care! The winner is Sophie Russel so congratulations to Sophie on winning the O.S.H.C mascot competition! The ‘Oshctopus’ will be O.S.H.C’s mascot forever.

The Oshctopus appears several times in the main after school care building, one at the front door saying, ‘welcome to out of school hours care,’ another one over where the shelf with all the games/toys. One over by the couch saying, ‘don’t jump on the couch,’ and the last one says ‘keep the books neat and tidy.

A big thank you to Mr Marashli and Salaam for turning Sophie’s creation into a digital format.

Cooking Club

by Zac Taylor (Educator)

Recently in Cooking Club we have been making Onigiri. Onigiri are Japanese rice balls formed into triangular or cylindrical shapes wrapped in nori (seaweed) and filled with a variety of fillings. The students had a great and messy time making these together. We filled them with avocado, chicken, carrot, tuna mayo, capsicum and cucumber.

If you have any family favourite recipes, we would love your suggestions!

Have Your Details Changed?

Please ensure you keep OSHC up to date with any changes.

This includes, but is not limited to, changes to phone numbers, addresses, court orders, parenting orders or parenting plans, medical plans or changes to medication and changes to authorised persons including emergency contacts.

Keeping Track of Children

As we use several areas within the school including the playground areas, sand pit, oval, canteen and science room, we use Google docs to keep ‘live’ up to date lists with the names of students in each area.

This method allows us to effectively keep track of where children are at all times.

Quote of the Fortnight

“It’s not our job to toughen children up to face a cruel and heartless world. It’s our job to raise children who will make the world a little less cruel and heartless”. L.R Knost.
