International Hot Pot Lunch

A little update after the Hot Pot lunch last weekend. Overall the day was really good, it was great to see the girls come early and help prepare the lunch. Not only did the girls enjoy the preparation time , they also enjoyed the time simply chatting in a relaxed Australian country environment. A big thank you to all 6 of our international girls were very helpful. And many of the boys were helpful in the clean up after.

They all seemed very relaxed and at home, and certainly enjoyed the food. Ms Tseng and Ms Liu were very helpful in organising the food and we would like to thank them for their help and assistance in preparing for a successful day. Abbie and Tim Cameron’s residence was a perfect place to host our international boarders and we are all looking forward to the next event soon.

VCE English Tutorial

The VCE English tutorial was held in the boarding house common room last week for all of our Year 12 boarders and day-students. 33 students attended the successful session where Ms Belinda Nichols (Head of English) provided an overview of the up and coming school assessed coursework and some in-depth experience and advice in preparing for the best possible result our students can attain. This dedication in hard work for academic success is certainly a hallmark of our boarding culture and I thank both Ms Nichols and Ms Dempsey for the assistance and guidance, as all of our Year 12s certainly appreciate the support.

Wimmera Field Days

The Wimmera Field Days held in Longernong over three days were a great opportunity to meet and greet existing and prospective boarding families. With the distance to our boarding precinct from the Wimmera region within the hour and half radius, we are perfectly placed to support families and boarders with access to a strong education whilst yet still connected with their home.

Attending these local events provides ample time to chat about what we can offer and meet the family in person and in their area.

Casual Boarding

Have you ever considered casual boarding? With our after-school programs in full-swing and our day school students taking these opportunities with determination, our Boarding Houses can offer a comfortable place for an evening or two. When a casual boarder finishes their after-school commitment they are able to be picked up by our driver and brought back to the Boarding House. Here they enjoy dinner, academic assistance, super supper (on a Wednesday), a warm and comfortable bed for the night with breakfast and lunch the following day. Casual boarding is becoming a popular choice for families and their children of all ages, and I encourage any family to consider this option for their son or daughter.

If you would like to trial boarding, experience the benefits of casual boarding or simply enquire about boarding in general please do not hesitate in contacting Susie Holcombe (holcombes@hamiltoncollege.vic.edu.au) or myself (amonk@hamiltoncollege.vic.edu.au or 0407 052 214).
