Special Education News

Great times in Special Education with lots of our older students starting back at TAFE and work placement. Angel Matthews-Muller, Freddie Monk, William Mullins, Krystal Harris and Cameron Weatherby have all started at Central Coast Tafe at Ourimbah completing a hospitality Tvet access course on a Thursday. This has been a challenge for some of our students as it has been quite a change and has involved catching public transport for the first time.

Caitlin O’Dowd and Zali Dezeuuw have both started placements at Lazercraft Industries. Angel Matthews-Muller has resumed this year at her work placement at the Red Cross West Gosford. Jolie Easton has started at the Gumnuts playgroup and Cameron Weatherby has resumed at the Eco Garden. We thank these organisations and businesses for their continued support in our work placement program.

Our first parent coffee shop occurred last week and the parents of our students had a great informal catch up over a meal and a coffee. We didn’t have a guest speaker this term but instead the new parents got to catch up with each other and parents of our other students.

The 7/8 class are studying Ancient Egypt with Mr Lawler and have had a great time tasting foods and dressing as the Ancient Egyptians did. The costumes were a great success and the students took turns at being Cleopatra and Tutankhamun. The food was also a highlight with the tasting of goats milk testing some students.
