Year Advisers Reports

Year 7

We are now over half way of Year 7’s first term at Henry Kendall High School, most students are settling into high school life and understanding all the expectations that high school brings. Thank you to all parents/carers and students who attended the Year 7 Information Evening, it was great to see families and students engaged with their learning. For anyone who wasn’t able to attend, please email call me with any questions. I know many students are feeling overwhelmed with the assessment schedules, please don’t hesitate to ask your teachers questions if there is anything you don’t understand with your assessments. The schedules are also on the school web page for families and students as well.

We still have a busy term ahead of us, next week on Thursday 19 March Year 7 will enjoy a High Resolves Peak Experience. A reminder to check the sign outside the Middle School staffroom to see when your roll call will be attending, any questions please see Mrs Blue in A2. On Wednesday  25 March is immunisations, thank you to all who have handed in the notes. And then the major event for term 1, our Year 7 Camp, I am looking forward to having lots of fun and adventure and getting to know our large cohort of students!

And finally to all Year 7 remember:

“In a world where

you can be anything,

be kind.”

Mrs Karen Hogan

Year 7 Adviser

Year 9

I would like to congratulate Year 9 on a wonderful start to the 2020 school year! Over the past 7 weeks, I have heard many positive reports from teachers that they have settled into their new classes very well and are enthusiastic about their new subjects, which is great to hear.

As we are getting towards the pointy end of term, assessment tasks are going to be coming in thick and fast. Students received an assessment booklet which outlines their assessment tasks for each subject for Semester 1. Students should refer to this, to plan and organise themselves with their task and remember to ask their teachers for any help or support they may need.

We had our inaugural Henry Kendall High School swimming carnival in week 4 of this term and Year 9 were a standout for attendance and participation. We had some adverse weather conditions on the day but students showed determination by still showing up and competing. Well done to all those students and congratulations to all the age champions on the day!

We have a new ‘Henry’s Heroes’ reward system at Henry Kendall High School this year and the students have been responding to it very well. The students now receive ‘Henry’s Heroes’ tickets which they can either use for bus lines, buy the bell or they can put them into the draw each week at the assembly on Fridays to win a $5 dollar canteen voucher. Congratulations to Kai Neale, Fletcher Hartley and Julian Nicholls who have already won a voucher! Keep collecting those tickets!

Keep up the good work Year 9, and remember be kind.

Miss Tamara Sexty

Year 9 Adviser

Year 11

This term is flying through very fast for Year 11 as they tackle their first round of senior assessment tasks. On assembly today I emphasised the need for them to be organised but more importantly to reach out for help if they are feeling overwhelmed. There are many avenues of support in the school and they should come and see me if they are having difficulties so I can point them in the right direction.

Several Year 11 students have stepped up into leadership roles this year including the House Captains and members of the Student Engagement, Global Awareness, Student Wellbeing and Diversity teams. Participation in extra-curricular  and leadership activities is very beneficial in the students’ personal development and is highly regarded by employers. Well done to those students.

On Track is coming up at the end of the month and I look forward to the performances of Year 11 students and look forward to seeing some of you there.
