E-waste

All e-waste is now banned from landfill . To protect our environment and recover precious resources, the Victorian Government has banned all e-waste from going to landfill as of Monday 1 July 2019. All e-waste must now be separated for recycling and cannot go in any of your household bins. This ban includes anything with a plug, cord, battery or alternative power source.

There are 5 ways to recycle your e-waste including:

  1. Drop off all e-waste at the Boroondara Recycling and Waste Centre at 648 Riversdale Road, Camberwell. This is our main e-waste collection site. This site accepts all e-waste, but charges will apply for larger items and whitegoods.
  2. Drop off small e-waste items only in one of our six E-waste Collection Banks across Boroondara. Locations listed below.
  3. If your kerbside bins are collected by Council, you can book a hard waste collection from your home for all e-waste items. Council will then separate these for recycling at our depot.
  4. Drop off e-waste at another nearby council e-waste collection point - if this is more convenient. Visit ewaste.vic.gov.au for more drop off locations.
  5. Ask your retailer if they will take back your old e-waste when you buy a replacement item.
