Middle School Update

Semester 2 is now in full flow and has seen a number of important changes:

Our Year 7 students are becoming more confident around the school as their transition to the College progresses.  Many  are actively seeking leadership responsibilities around the school – Well done Year 7!

Our Year 8 students are eagerly awaiting their chance to put their elective options in for their 2019 studies. They will receive email codes on Thursday 16 August to enable them to enter those choices. The students will receive a briefing during the assembly on that day along with a discussion of what the subjects entail. All of the information will be available in the Middle School Handbook which will be published next week.

Our Year 9 students had a very positive introduction to their future Senior School studies and have posted their subject selections for 2019. We had strong support from parents for these students with the vast majority of students attending their 1:1 interviews accompanied by a parent. Koonung greatly appreciates this commitment from parents given the difficulties with scheduling and work commitments.

Overall it has been an amazing start to the Semester and I am hoping that we can maintain the positive energy for the rest of the year.

Student voice benefits KSC

A Middle Years family has generously donated paper towel and soap dispensers worth $1,250 to the College. These dispensers were given after many Middle Years students replied to a feedback survey organised by the Middle Years Captains, who were looking for student feedback on how they could improve the College. The results showed that many students wanted to improve the toilets. This is a great example of how Student Voice can inspire change around the school.
