Koonung Creek Trail Mosaic Mural
Year 9 Urban Art students have been very busy creating designs to be incorporated into the mosaic mural that Debra Amon Cotter (Artist in School) has been assisting the students with.
Students have researched Koonung Creek Trail images to enable them to design their own images which have been drawn up into a final four panel mosaic design. They have been busy learning how to design images and cut and glue tiles.
Mr. Foote has been busy researching specific tile colours to use so we keep within a certain colour palette. He put together the student drawings and incorporated them into a four panel mosaic mural design.
Come and see the progress that we will make each week, room 34 will be open at lunchtimes during ‘Arts Space’ time for you to see the mural in progress.
If anyone has contact with a tile company which is willing to donate tiles, please contact the school.

Year 9 Gourmet Traveller
In our Year 9 Gourmet Traveller class, we chose a country and completed a research assignment, which gave us a better conceptual grasp toward what sort of dish we would make. These dishes would be of a cultural significance to the chosen country, and would be of a high calibre of skill and artistry.
Using the design process, we first gathered information about a country that we wished to adopt a dish from. We researched their cultures, delved into their rich history, and indulged in the delicious cuisine that the country has to offer. After this stage, we gathered images of dishes, and selected the ones that are on par with our taste buds to selectively narrow down the dishes to one final decision. Then comes the fun bit. We are designated one an half hours to prepare, cook, and present our dish, with an evaluation to give ourselves a better perception and a new way to view the country and its cuisine.
Overall, the Gourmet Traveller class is an excellent class for those who enjoy food, or the cultures of different countries.
