A Message from Councillor Jaye Robinson re:  Traffic & Pedestrian Safety in Ward 15

Dear Friends and Neighbours,

I hope this email finds you well.

Over the months I've been the Councillor for Ward 15 – Don Valley West, I've heard from Leaside residents that traffic and pedestrian safety are top of mind concerns in the neighbourhood.

I'm writing to invite you to a neighbourhood traffic feedback session on June 3rd, 2019 from 7:15-8:30pm at the Trace Manes Community Centre – Seniors' Room. I will be attending along with representatives from the Leaside Property Owners' Association (LPOA) and City Transportation staff.

I apologize for the delay in scheduling this meeting – it's been challenging to secure a venue at this time of year.

I look forward to seeing you all there.

Warm regards,

Jaye

To the left, the students used stripes to represent shades, nuances, progress, shape-shifting, colour-changing & the design process. To the right, they used stripes to represent compromise, adapting, flexibility, teamwork, fusion, changes, creativity, design process, mixing!

Facility Updates

We are delighted to share that the following updates are in motion and/or have recently been completed:

1.  Bathroom repairs - Several stalls had been damaged due to vandalism and the caretaking team and central maintenance team repaired the stalls and ensured that they are safe and secure.  We are conducting investigations into the vandalism.

2.  Boilers - Our boilers have been removed and are being replaced with brand new, custom designed boilers that will work efficiently with our new HVAC system.

3.  Cooling Tower - Over the summer, our cooling tower will be replaced with a new cooling tower.

4.  PA System - Our PA system is in the process of being entirely replaced.  The new system has been designed specifically for our school and will be operational at the start of the 2019-2020 school year.

Thank you to the central and on-site facilities team for coordinating these projects and ensuring that Northlea is a safe and healthy environment.

Please join Rachel at an upcoming coffee morning.  These "coffee" events are informal gatherings where parents and constituents are invited for a roundtable-style discussion of information sharing, best practices and interesting conversation related to education in our ward. Often superintendents and sometimes even principals drop by, so these are fun and engaging events. We hope you will attend!

Mark your calendars for the last Ward 11 coffee meeting of the year! Join me in the upstairs kitchen at Longo’s, June 12, 9:15-12:00, for public education-related conversation, lunch included. We will be talking about the proposed budget, ward 11 schools and much, much more.
