Meet Mrs Rachael Birkefeld

Where have you lived?

I was born in Orange then moved to the Manning Valley as my parents accepted jobs at the Base Hospital. I have spent the majority of my life in Taree completing K-12 here at TCCS (now TCC). After getting married in 2010 my husband and I travelled overseas to Holland as part of a hockey trip where we stayed for a month then moved to Scotland for 8 months where we both worked, played hockey and managed to squeeze in a bit of sight-seeing. I have also lived for a year in Newcastle when I was previously studying but the Manning Valley is definitely my home.

What is it like being on staff at TCC?

The culture at TCC is a very special thing and is unlike any I have been a part of before. There is support, encouragement, guidance and genuine friendship here and I feel blessed being able to be a part of this team.

What does your role involve?

My role at TCC is assistant business manager while I am studying my bachelor of business, so at the moment it involves a lot of learning! I am currently working with Kirk in accounts and assisting in compliance policies and procedures which for some may not be appealing but I do enjoy it and it’s a great way to learn. I am blessed to be working with such a supportive administration team who genuinely care about the students and their education.

What are you looking forward to at TCC?

I am looking forward to completing my degree and being able to use my gifts to help the school. Having the memories of what the school was like back in 1990 to where it has grown to now is amazing. It’s exciting to think of where the College will be in another 10 and 20 years from now and the impact we can have on our community through this ministry.

How do you like spending your spare time?

Spare time? What’s that? :)

Being a busy mum, wife, ‘Aunty Rach’, working and studying I savour any spare time I can get! My hubby and kids spend a lot of our time at the hockey fields on Saturdays and if not there I am usually trying to fit some music practice in which I can never get enough of.
