Principal's Report

From Christian's desk....

We’re back and flying!

This week we welcomed back our students following the easing of COVID-19 enforced restrictions. At our staff meeting on Tuesday afternoon I asked staff to share their highlights, unsurprisingly their love of children and education shone through!

The students have settled wonderfully well and, despite a bit of afternoon fatigue, have launched straight back into their learning.

School Captains’ Lunch

On a personal note it was great to return to my own regular routine which includes Monday lunches with the four School Captains.

This week, amongst other things, we discussed how great it is to be back together and initial plans for a 2020 School Captain led project. Last year the School Captains worked with CHAPS and the community to deliver a new Senior School Playground - watch this space to hear what this year’s Captains can achieve!

A Road Safety Thank-You

Four days in and we’re handling the return to the busy drop off and pick up extremely well!

Key points which will see safe operations continue:

  • Learning starts at 9:00. Children can begin arriving at school from 8:30am.
  • When exiting the ‘Drop Off Zone’ turn left.
  • Avoid u-turns and right hand turns into courts and driveways on Campaspe Drive. Take the time to do the whole block. This will prevent traffic jams particularly entering the ‘Drop Off Zone’ and around the school crossing.
  • Use the school crossing to safely cross the road.

Collectively these will help ease congestion and keep our community safe.

Return your devices please

A reminder. To ensure we have adequate devices to support learning at school we ask that all families return borrowed devices (and their chargers) to the school office as soon as possible.

Congratulations Nikky Edwards!

I am excited to reveal that CHAPS stalwart and all-round amazing parent, Nikky Edwards, has reached the finals of this year's Parents Victoria Joan Kirner Award.

The Joan Kirner Award is given annually for outstanding parent participation in school life and you may remember was won last year by Sue & Paul Brophy, whose daughter Rhea was then in Year 6.

This year we were proud to nominate Nikky, not only for her continued and valued contributions to all aspects of school life through CHAPS, but in particular for her amazing moderation of the CHAPS Facebook group, which has been an integral part of our communication chain during this year, when we are all "staying apart to keep us together".

I have been especially grateful to Nikky for her support throughout the year.  We are thrilled that she has made the final and hoping we can pass on some even more exciting news next week - watch this space!
