Religious Dimension

Our Gospel Challenge this week is to.....

"Talk to God each day in prayer".

This week's Gospel, the parable of the bridesmaids and bridegroom (Matthew 21:33-43) speaks strongly of the need to live in the present with an eye to the future. We cannot live only for the ‘now’ with no thought for our ultimate goal, nor can we ignore the sufferings and responsibilities of the present and set our hearts only on heaven.

• How well do you balance the spiritual and practical realities of life?

• In what ways are you ready for Christ’s coming in baptism?

NAIDOC Week - F.I.R.E. Carriers

This week we will be celebrating the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC Week is celebrated not just in the Indigenous Australian communities but in all communities across Australia. At St John's, the FIRE Carriers will be displaying posters, creating a temporary artwork from chalk and handprints, leading a "Long Walk" around the playground on Friday at lunchtime and commissioning two staff FIRE Carriers.

Socktober/Mini Missions

Our  sincere thanks to all members of our school community who generously supported our Socktober/Mini Mission event. Approximately $2000 was raised on the day and another $1307 on the website. Catholic Mission will forward this money to projects in Cambodia, Australia and other countries in need.
