Preps Update

Term 4 Week 5

This week in Prep...

We have had such an exciting week in the prep area! Our highlight for the week was definitely making animal habitat dioramas using empty shoeboxes.

The preps were extremely proud to show off their creations and it was a great opportunity for the students to develop their language and fine motor skills.

This also allowed for creativity and imagination through designing and planning and making an animal’s habitat, to demonstrate their understanding of animal habitats and environmental adaptations.

The students made their animal habitat dioramas. They are all proud of themselves!

This week in Literacy, preps have been developing the reading strategy ‘to read on’ by skipping the word and reading to the end of the sentence and then going back to it by trying again. We continue to work on note taking.  Remember to also continue reading on Wushka using your login details.

In numeracy we conducted focused feedback sessions to further develop students’ skills and to recap concepts that have been identified as tricky. In Area, students discussed and explored which informal maths equipment can be used to help us measure area.

We continue to revisit the Tribes agreements, using a growth mindset and working cooperatively in groups.

PHS had so much fun making our animal habitats on Wednesday.

PHS had so much fun making our animal and their habitat using craft materials. It was wonderful to see how creative people are! We enjoyed going on a gallery walk to appreciate the work of our peers.
