Year 5 Excursion to the  Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery | Friday 16 October

On Friday 16 October, Year 5 classes will be travelling by bus to the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery (TMAG) for an hour-long session in the art gallery. This visit will act as a provocation for their upcoming unit of inquiry: How we express ourselves. As TMAG currently have restrictions on numbers allowed in their building at any time, half of the students will attend a session between 10.00am and 11.00am, while the second group will attend a session between 12.30pm and 1.30pm.

Year 1 Excursion to Fossil Cove and Tinderbox | Monday 26 October

On Monday 26 October, Year 1 will be embarking on a Coastal Day to Fossil Cove and Tinderbox Reserve. Class teachers, Learning Assistants and Nicola Hughes, our Outdoor Education teacher, will accompany the students on the excursion. This program provides students with the opportunity to search for, identify, ask questions and think about what fossils can tell us. Students are required to wear their sports uniform, school hat and sturdy shoes to walk in. They are also to bring a backpack lined with a sturdy plastic bag containing: morning tea and lunch (no lunch orders on this day), rain jacket, water bottle, a warm jumper, beanie, gloves, a change of socks and any required personal medication. Please ensure your child’s Operoo profiles are up to date.

Year 2 Excursion to the Peter Murrell Reserve | Wednesday 28 October

On Wednesday 28 October, as part of the Outdoor Education program and our How the world works Inquiry, all Year 2 students will be visiting Peter Murrell Reserve near Kingston. This experience will provide an opportunity for students to investigate terrestrial and freshwater invertebrates in their natural habitats. Students will need to wear sports uniform (including a waterproof coat and their school sunhat) and strong footwear. They will also need lunch, snacks and a drink packed in a backpack (lined with a tough plastic bag for waterproofing). Buses will leave school at 9.15am and return at about 3.00pm. Please ensure your child’s Operoo profiles are up to date.

Years 3-6 Morris Athletics Carnival | Thursday 29 October

The Morris Athletics Carnival will be held on Thursday 29 October at the Domain Athletics Centre for all students in Years 3-6. Students are required to make their own way to the Domain by 9.00am, with supervision provided from 8.15am. The carnival concludes at 3.00pm. Students need to be picked up promptly by 3.10pm. Please advise the Morris Office if your child will not be picked up by that time as they will walk back to school with class teachers. It is essential that we know which students are walking to arrange appropriate supervision. Programs will be sent home prior to the carnival.

Parents and families are welcome to attend but you will be required to sign the COVID-19 Attendance Sheet with the COVID Safety Officer as you enter the premises (via main gate ONLY). You will also be required to take appropriate social distancing measures. Please note that seating for spectators will be on the hill, with the undercover grandstand area reserved for students only.

Any enquiries please contact Lisa Di Venuto at ldivenuto@friends.tas.edu.au or call the Morris Office on 6210 2228.
