Year 12 students have been emailed details of the process to purchase laptops. The sale price is $419 and requests are to be made via google form by 30 November.

L'Oréal Australia & New Zealand - Girls In Science 2020 Climate Edition

Are you a female student with a strong passion for science, sustainability and climate action? The 2020 L'Oréal-UNESCO Girls in Science Climate Edition is an online forum including a panel of leading female researchers tackling the important issues surrounding climate change. The critical urgency of climate change has meant that the 2020 Women in Science Fellows are working within research areas never investigated before. They are helping to solve some of the greatest sustainability challenges currently facing humankind and our natural environment. You have the opportunity to hear from these amazing scientists about their research and their career pathways on Monday 26 October (2-3pm). If you have any questions, please email Nicola Anderson. Seize the Day Scholarships

The Cancer Council offer scholarships to students (16-25 years old) who have been impacted by cancer either personally or someone close to them. Information about the scholarships can be accessed on the Cancer Council website.

TASC - Student Guide to the Exam

All TCE students have been issued with a hard copy of the guide to the exams. Of particular importance are the details regarding what students should do if they can’t sit their exam. We remind students that the exams are run by TASC and thus the provided guidelines if exams are missed must be met.

Battle of the Talent Videos

We are delighted to release the recordings from this year’s Amnesty Battle of the Talent. To view the recordings and cast a vote, please use this form. Note that votes can only be cast by Friends’ School students. Adjudication will be announced shortly after Friday 30 October.

UTAS Final Recitals

Our UTAS Music students will present their final recitals from 4 pm on Wednesday 21 October in The Farrall Centre. The recitals will be the culmination of the year’s work and will be assessed by staff from the University of Tasmania. 

 

All are welcome to join us for these performances, which will be the same day as the TCE Music Twilight Concert - see below - noting that additional public health measures will be in place to assist with the management of the event.

TCE Twilight Concert

Music 315 students will present their pre-exam twilight concert on Wednesday 21 October, commencing at 6pm in The Farrall Centre. This will be an important opportunity for students to perform final programs before the external practical exams the following week. 

 

All are welcome to join us for this concert, noting that additional public health measures will be in place to assist with the management of the event.

Term 4 Dates

Wednesday 21 October - last day of class for Year 12 IB students

Tuesday 27 October - Year 12 IB written exams commence

Thursday 29 October - last day of classes for TCE students

Friday 30 October - Tree planting, Year 12 Gathering and morning tea from 10.30 am.
