Years 10 -12 Update

November 2020

Year 10 News

It is hard at work as we undertake final content for the year and the students gear up for Step up to Year 11

Year 12 News

The major VCE story is of course the culmination of many years of study for Year 12 students and Year 11 students revising for their examination timetable.

Plans are still being made for the end of year celebration of Year 12 in a format that meets government requirements.

In the meantime hundreds of photos were taken of the last day for Year 12 students.

We have put a few of them together to show just how much this cohort of COVID 19 veterans feel about each other.

And if you want a few dance lessons - Here you go!

VCAL NEWS

I am so proud of our students and the high standards of personal commitment they are making as we reach, for many in senior VCAL the culmination of 13 years of schooling.

This short video shows some work related skills but also reflects the speed that the last few weeks have felt like as we strive to finish the year with our expected great success.

Congratulations

to  four VCAL students who graduated from their Certificate 2 in Horticulture.

Well done Jake, Eh Ku, Ryan and Aidan.

Last week VCAL Intermediate students Zac, Kim and Elizabeth identified Domestic Violence as a key issue within our community.

To meet their Personal Development Skills outcomes they conducted some research and worked tirelessly to plan and organise an event to raise awareness and much needed funds to support those in need.  They organised a guest speaker to present to all Goldsworthy students and a casual dress day + cupcake stall to raise the funds.  They far exceeded their own expectations and raised close to $350 to donate to our local Salvation Army who work with people experiencing these vulnerable situations.  Thank you to all those who supported this event!

Another Personal Development Skills project run this time by Intermediate students Zainab, Ali Z, Ali R, Batool and Thanesan was a Fashion Show To End Racism.  The idea behind this project was to display cultural dress from a variety of cultures represented in our community and educate the peer group on some key aspects of each.  Students are now spending time reflecting on and evaluating the success of their project. Congratulations!

After the completion of the Certificate 2 in Public Safety, Year 12 students have been participating in the Leaders of Evolution – Igniting the Leaders of Tomorrow leadership program where they are developing crucial employability skills.  We would like to thank Brad Roylance at Ardoch for organising this opportunity.

To meet Work Related Skills outcomes, the senior VCAL students have planned and organised a soup and spaghetti kitchen, to prepare and provide food support to The Salvation Army Northside.  We would like to thank Joy Cassidy for supporting the great partnership between NBC VCAL and TSA.

Here are a selection of Photos from the wonderful kitchens at the GITTC and thank you to Chef Bal for her support.
