Year 12 Celebrations

Year 12 Last Assembly

With all the shifting restrictions and regulations around the pandemic we weren't sure we would be able to pull off a celebration for our year 12 students but today's events were a huge success.  We managed to maintain some of the traditions of previous years and to reinvent some new ones.

Students enjoyed redesigned their school uniforms and showcasing their dressmaking skills in the fashion parade. What our Year 7 students thought is anyone's guess.  There was joyous dancing on the big round things near the lockers and great fun to be had smashing the pinatas.

The succes of the day; including the assembly, brunch, lunchtime activities and drone photo required the input and work of a huge range of people.  We need to do a big shout out to Andrew Lewis, Chris Young and Michel Belm who with 12 hours notice transformed the COLA (Covered Outdoor Learning Area) into a venue fit for a formal graduation.  The graduation assembly brought together some key elements of other events that we were not able to do this year including the valedictory dinner, awards night and the formal.

Thank you so much the the College captains for their work, and Jacob and Sam in particular for working back on Thursday night to fine tune things.  An enormous debt of gratitude to the Later Years Team , Mr Pollock, Mrs White, Mrs Mingos, Ms King and Mr Newnham for all their work in liaising, organising and planning and a big thank you to Laurie Hoogkamer and Wendy Pearce for providing the brunch.

Greg Jelley, one of our parents, kindly agreed to take time out of his work day to come and take a drone photograph so we could have a socially distanced group shot.  We tried to spell out 2020 and I think we almost made it.

Many students also assisted in the running day including the SRC, Tech Crew and Year 11 VCAL students.  Your contributions and committment are much appreciated and do not go unnoticed.

As always, the Wantirna College community comes together to support our students.

Most Outstanding Student Awards

Usually these awards would be presented at the Valedictory dinner but we took the opportunity to recognise the most outstanding student in each subject based on their school assessed coursework today.
