Tag On

Last Friday we had our first day of using our new Tag On system and, despite the long line to tag on, it was a great success! This morning was our second morning of tagging on and showed us that we will get faster at tagging on with a bit more practise.

The Tag On system is collecting data on how our students and staff travel to school, which will inform our decisions and plans for how we can promote active transport and reduce car traffic around the school. Another feature is fantastic for families with a child who is ready to travel to school independently, but the parents or carers are concerned about safety (and don’t want to buy a mobile phone yet). When your child tags on at school, the email address registered will be instantly alerted with a message that they have arrived safely!

As the tags are plastic, we strongly recommend tags are attached to bags or something similar, so they don’t go missing. Replacement tags are available from the office at the price of $1 - new tags need to be registered before your child can tag on.

Whole School Sports Day

We imagine your children slept well over the weekend - we know we sure did after Friday’s sports day fun!

We want to thank Tom Nelson for organising another fantastic day of outdoor activities and a huge thank you to the parents and carers who volunteered at the event - we could not have done it without you. A special thanks goes to Denis Phelan, who helped our Junior School board the buses in both directions.

This year we also want to recognise Tanya Pittard, who was the organiser at our first ever whole school sports day many years ago as this year was her last. Tanya, it was a real pleasure to watch you with the microphone last Friday, getting our students ready for their races. Thank you for all the ways you have helped improve our school.

Long Weekend

Just a reminder that this Thursday and Friday are student free days at BNWPS. OSHC will be open for interested families, but staff shortages in the OSHC program are indicating that we may have a limited number of places available.

As previously communicated, these days are set aside for our collective professional practice day and for our 2022 Staff Conference.

Monday 13th June is the Queen’s Birthday public holiday. No students are required at school on this day either and no full day OSHC service will be available as it is a public holiday.

Household Contacts

Last week we noticed an increased number of positive confirmed cases of COVID across the school. While we know that relaxed government regulations around household contacts will lead to higher levels of infection, we continue to strive to provide a safe learning and working community for our students and staff.

If your child is a household contact of a confirmed case and is coming to school, we ask that you remind them to wear a mask whenever they are indoors and to wash/sanitise their hands regularly. Students are reminded by staff members whenever possible, but as you may be able to imagine it is quite a challenge to remember all the students who are currently household contacts across the school.

Students, staff and visitors are all welcome to wear masks at any stage for their personal safety and reassurance.
