Last weekend saw a cold wet weekend once again.

Friday night the staff and students lit a bonfire up at equine which was lots of fun and provided some much-appreciated warmth.

Saturday saw the students going to Bunbury for some shopping in the morning and five students headed back in the evening to watch Bullet Train at the Cinemas.

Sunday was cold and the fire pit was well utilised with some marshmallows being toasted in the evening. The students were all keen to go to a nice warm bed relatively early and without a lot of prompting.

Weekly Round-up

Monday afternoon saw AFL Country Week training on a very wet school oval.  The students who participated really did well in the conditions as Xavier Milner ran some great drills for the boys. Well done.

Monday also saw junior girls' netball in town, as well as hockey being played in Collie in very cold conditions.  The team had another win - great work.

“MasterChef” was on once again with Ms Wellington and the students cooked up a storm with hand cut wedges and magnificent looking beef and bacon burgers.  They really looked very appetising and were enjoyed by all involved.

Tuesday afternoon saw AFL training in town, as well as netball refereeing training at the Harvey Rec Centre.

Wednesday saw our College netball team fight out a very physical game, where ice was the order of the day once the game was over. It was a very tight game all the way and we went down by the smallest of margins, 28-30. Great effort all round I hear.

Dodgeball was the game of choice for after hours sport. Mr Jones had around 30 students participating and many more cheering on from the side-lines.

Thursday saw Country Week basketball training onsite, AFL training in town, students at the town gym and darts for mental maths run in the school gym. Mr White reports that the students involved in the darts are really getting into it and are making great progress.

Injuries

In recent months we have had our usual run of sporting injuries, generally from weekend sport commitments. Just a gentle reminder, that we as a Residential boarding facility, take every care and look after students in our charge to the best of our ability. However, once a student has been concussed, we cannot be expected to take duty of care of those students back here onsite until at least 48 hours past the incident time. We do not have a permanent nurse and staff cannot be expected to take the responsibility of this type of injury.

Meal Time

Some students are repeatedly missing meals. Staff have concerns and a duty of care to the student and their parents/ guardians when this is occurring regularly. I have and will continue to make parents and guardians aware of this issue when staff recognise it is taking place. Sometimes students will say they are eating in the dorm, which they may well be, however we cannot know this to be factual.
