NAIDOC Week Celebrations

We had a wonderful week last week celebrating Indigenous Culture and commencing our inquiries into Indigenous History. On Friday we had Uncle Ganga and Uncle Albup (a Wurrundjeri elder) come and share with us a Welcome to Country, didgeridoo music and sharing of stories. One of our Grade 1 students reported back to Uncle Ganga that this was one of the best days at school!

Thank you to everyone for their donations we raised $347.40 for the Opening The Doors Foundation, supporting indigenous children to equally access education.

Bastille Day Celebrations

Next Friday 29 July we will be celebrating Bastille Day at St Bede's. The children are invited to dress up in a French theme. This can be as simple as in the colours of the French flag or try some STEM and create an Eiffel Tower dress up!!

We will have a quick dress up parade in the morning, the French leaders have created an activity for the classrooms and our wonderful Tuckshop Team have created a special Bastille Day menu to choose from. On this day our language coach from MACs will also be visiting our school to observe French lessons and give staff feedback on goals for our French program.

French Program Visitors

On Thursday 4 August we have approximately 40 visitors (principals and teachers) coming to St Bede's to observe our French program. On this day our visitors in small groups will visit the classrooms and observe French lessons in action at St Bede's. They are interested in our daily co-learning French program and gathering ideas and knowledge about how to implement language programs back in their schools. This day has been organised by MACs and is a great compliment to our program that we are able to share our learning about this daily immersion in functional language program with others in our system.

Inquiry Gallery Walk

It has been wonderful to see Grade 3/4R children bringing their parents into their Inquiry Gallery Walk this last week and sharing their personal inquiry video presentations. If you haven't had a look come to the Library Hallway and click on a QR code to see 3/4R learning in action.
