A note from Mr Jackson

Learning Smorgasbord

On Tuesday afternoon, directly after school, staff will be participating in professional development with other local schools. This will see them participating in online workshops with colleagues from other schools. I encourage you to allow them to quickly prepare and attend these meetings by ensuring conversations at the classroom door are kept brief.

A Big Assembly!

We look forward to celebrating a range of highlights on Friday at Assembly. Our new student leaders of Junior School Council and Sustainability will be presented with their badges and we will mark the first 100 Days of Prep for our youngest students. Our Student of the Week Awards will be presented for last week and this week.   All are welcome to join us!

Staffing Update

A special thanks to Lisa Wilson who has taught 1/2N during the absence of Natalie Richardson. Next week we look forward to Ms Richardson’s return, but hope to see Ms Wilson in and out of our doors, supporting our students across the year levels.

Enrolments in 2023

A reminder to parents who wish to enroll their child into Prep next year, that we are eager to see them enrolled as soon as possible. As we enter semester two, we begin our workforce planning and want to ensure that we can build a workforce plan that responds to the size and needs of our community. If you are planning a move, please come and have a conversation, so we can take such changes into account.

School Council Update

There were a range of items discussed at this week’s School Council meeting. This included a significant update to the Child Safe Policy with the incorporation of a new set of standards. This information is covered in Lynda Whitechurch’s newsletter contribution and seeks to ensure the ongoing safety of all in our community. I encourage you all to be familiar with our Child Safe Policy. A special thanks to our Education Group who has reviewed and refreshed a range of our policies and practices to shape a safer place for students.

The other item that caused some discussion, is the growing concern around increasing COVID infections in Victoria and its possible impact on upcoming events. Arising from these discussions, further COVID Safe actions for the disco have been implemented and were circulated via Compass earlier in the week.

We continue to encourage all adults onsite and indoors to wear a mask. Classes with students from Years 3 to 6 have been provided with masks as we continue to find ways to ensure our hospitals and health services are not overwhelmed and our students remain safe.

Book Week Is Upon Us

There is lots to celebrate when it comes to books. There are characters that have journeyed with us our whole lives and continue to inspire and shape us. Great literature can take us to places that we would never be able to be. Monday 8 August will see characters leap from their pages and gather in the playground. Students and teachers are invited to dress up. Parents are most welcome to watch the parade at 2:30pm!

In the lead up to Book Week, the Book Fair will be open from Thursday, 4 August to Friday, 5 August between 3:30pm and 4:30pm in the 4/5/6 Open Learning Area. Parents and students are welcome to drop by to browse or buy! You may also wish to visit the Book Fair from 2:00pm on Monday 8 August prior to the Book Parade.

Disco Grooves On The Friday

A special thanks to our FORPS team who have prepared a wonderful time here on Friday night at the student disco. These nights require a lot of preparation and organisation and we are thankful for all those who contribute so much to the lives of all our students and the school.

A Gift of Thanks

We look forward to hanging a special gift of two artworks that we received recently from the Ottrey family. They have been with us for some time and a move has meant a change of schools. We wish both students well and hope to catch up later in the year! We will proudly display these two wonderful artworks in our foyer over the coming days. Keep an eye out.
