Founders' Day 2022

Tim Dehn - Community Relations Manager

Parents, staff, and just a few students from DCC's early days, together with some 450 of today's  Primary students, gathered in the Community Hub on Friday 10 June for a celebration of Founders' Day - the first since 2019.

From the moment the first of our invited guests arrived in the new space, greeting one another with broad grins and, where appropriate, hugs, it was clear that something special was going to happen - and it did.

Among the highlights was a conversation between Tim Argall and John Kroon, who had sat on the first committee that established the vision for a Christian school that has become the Donvale we know and love today; beautiful music from the Junior Vocal Ensemble and the Intermediate Vocal Ensemble - thank you Mel Searle for conducting; a testimony by Peter Jones as to why he is committed to caring for the planet " ... because my (heavenly) Father made it …"; and finally, each guest received a drawing of a tree in leaf with the names of our prep students of 2022 inscribed.

Many stories were shared over lunch after the formalities were done - but one anecdote made it to the big screen in the hall:

We received some beautiful notes of thanks afterwards - here are just a few comments from guests who enjoyed the celebration:

Thank you for the privilege of being a guest today. As I said to the head of Junior school after her wonderful closing reading from 1 Corinthians and prayer.... the school is in good hands.

Stewart and I came away from that day giving praise and thanks to our great God for the way He has blessed the new generation to preserve what God intended for Donvale CC.

I just needed to write this to express my thanks to all concerned who made the celebration today a success. Boxes are being ticked in every aspect of the program, from the venue to the heart-warming presentation by the staff and children and whoever provided the lunch. The poem read by the year nine student had me actually choking up by the end and I don’t “do” emotion, usually.

God has truly blessed the school, staff and students
