Spectacular 5/6

Grade 5/6

Term 3 Week 2

Message from the Teacher:

Welcome back to second semester everyone and what a packed and busy semester we have ahead! It has been great seeing the smiling faces returning to the classroom, but I also appreciate the care and concern for student’s health and that students are being kept home when they, or a family member, are feeling unwell. If this is the case, please let me or the office know with a quick email and/or update Compass. My email address is Nicholas.duckett@education.vic.gov.au

Learning Intentions for Term 3:

Reading: We are shaking up Book Clubs for the next 6 weeks by introducing some non-fiction fact sheets to be read over the week and some research to be done after reading. This is to support our non-fiction writing unit and to encourage students to read about the world around them.

Writing: This term is all about creating interesting and factual reports about a variety of different areas. Students will explore the use of evidence, what facts and figures are relevant and what information is real and what is false. This will culminate with a big presentation when we return from camp.

Maths: In Maths we are moving into multiplication and division for the first 6 weeks of term. Class lessons will also be supported by targeted needs groups on a Monday and Friday that will be taken by Mr D, Mr Bradley and Ms Mason. These groups are fluid, changing every couple of weeks, and will be working on specific skills needs on a student-by-student basis.

Inquiry: Inquiry this term will be all about the economics and requirements of running a business. This will culminate in a whole school project run by the 5/6’s. WATCH THIS SPACE!
