Principal's Report

By Carolyn Serpell

Last week's 4-6 Winter Sports were a great success, with lots of positive feedback from students and staff.  Our congratulations to all teams on their achievement and team work.  In particular, I would like to acknowledge our students for their sportsmanship and the way in which they supported and encouraged their team members on the day.  I have heard numerous recounts from very proud staff regarding this, and how enjoyable the day was overall.

Our congratulations to the T-ball team, who brought home the trophy, the Football team, who placed second by just 2 goals and the netball and soccer teams who all played competitive games and shared their players with other teams.  Many thanks to Steph, Mel, Kathryn, Kath, Rachel, Andy and Misa for their organisation and coaching of the teams and games.

Congratulations also to Mac, Nate and Bianca on their achievement at the State Final Cross Country event last week.  This was a great opportunity to compete with the best in the state and a wonderful experience overall.

Thank you to those families who have volunteered their assistance with our upcoming 5/6 ski program.  We are still looking for volunteers to assist with snowboarding.  If you can help out, please contact the office or speak to Mel.  A reminder to all families that payment for this program needs to be finalised by Tuesday 26th July.  If you are wanting to use CSEF funds, please contact the office before this time.

Tomorrow, students in Years 5 & 6 will participate in a Science Incursion.  The theme of the incursion is based around food production and adaptions for the future.  As a key component of food production, students will be using microscopes to learn more about bees and the process of pollination.

Sadly, as announced on radio last week, due to the rising costs and the loss of volunteers, the Neighbourhood Centre will no longer be able to provide our Canteen Service.  As a result, tomorrow will be the last day we will be able to offer lunch orders, until alternate arrangements can be made.  On behalf of everyone at the school, I would like to extend our thanks to Trish, Janet and the rest of the team at the Mount Beauty Neighbourhood Centre, for all they have done to support families and the wider community over the years.

A reminder that RAT kits will continue to be available to families throughout this term.  Please continue to notify the school if your child tests positive for COVID and ensure your child understands the importance of wearing a mask indoors, to help keep everyone safe.
