Year 6 - Hooptime

HOOPTIME!!

Hoop Time 2022

At 9am on Friday 15th July the Year 6 and Year 5 students went to Hoop Time after 3 years. It finally happened!

We were very excited when we got there but we were also very nervous and thought we were going to lose a lot, however we ended up doing really well.

My team won 2 games and we lost 2 sadly, which meant we did not get to play finals but luckily the All Star Girls won their grand final.

My team was Cooper W, Kobe H, Archie F, Max L and Mason K but sadly Max popped his knee out during the first game.

Overall we had a lot of fun cheering on other Bimbadeen teams, eating chips and playing basketball with our friends.

Year 5/6 Hoop Time

On July the 15th our year 5 and 6 students went to Hoop Time (after 3 YEARS!) When the students got to Kilsyth stadium some of the kids warmed up and some of them paced around being nervous. The first game was Kelsey’s game, her team went out there strong but the other Bimbadeen team was really good so they lost their first game. Jacobs’s first game was against Chirnside, at the end of the game the score was even 8 to 8. Then Kelsey’s team had a break then they had another game, unfortunately they lost their second game. Now it was Jacob’s turn to hit the court. They were versing MEPS and they managed to win. Kelsey’s third game was next. Kelsey’s next game was hard, her players got hurt a few times and her team tried their best but the other team beat them again. Jacob’s third game was up now and he was versing Dorset, again his team managed to win. Kelsey’s fourth game was up and in the first 5 minutes she scored a goal, her first goal for the day! Her team was winning but the other team shot a goal and then the buzzer went off and they had a tie. Then Kelsey’s last game came, they went against Chirnside Park. Kelsey got another goal and so did a few other people on her team. Then the buzzer went and her team had won their first game for the day, Kelsey was finished for the day. Jacob’s fourth game was against Dorset and they again won which took the Bimbadeen Hornets into the semi-finals against MEPS. Jacob scored 8 points in the semi-final and at the end of the game there was a huge roar from the crowd, he said he will never forget that moment!

The grand final was straight after the semi-final so they were straight back on the court. In this final match Jacob scored about another 8 points and when the final buzzer sounded the Bimbadeen Hornets had won the future stars grand final! Once again the Hornets heard that same roar from the crowd and were so excited to be moving onto the regional finals later in the year.

Hoop time Year 5/6

At 9am we all arrived at Kilsyth and we had a bit of free time on court 5. After that we got our shoes on and took our jumpers off, went to warm up and watch the games before us.

Our first game was at 9:45 vs Chirnside Park, we came out with the win, we won 16 to 15.  Our second game was at 10:45 against Wonga Park, sadly we came out with a loss 18 to 10. For our third game of the day we were versing MEPS and we lost again by just 1 point, 14 to 15. After that loss we weren’t feeling the best but we were versing Dorset for our last game and we won 28 to 5.

We just missed out on the grand final but we made it to a consolation game and won that 28 to 14.

Overall it was a roller coaster of emotions but everyone had fun with friends playing basketball.

Year 5/6 Hoop Time

On the 15th of July some of the Year 5 and 6 students went to Kilsyth basketball stadium to play a bunch of small basketball matches, I was a lucky person to go and have a fun day. I was in a team called Huskies, we were all so excited to go out there and do our best. Our first game was at 10:30, we won 9 to 0 versing a Dorset team. Our second game we had a draw against a Mooroolbark East team. Our third game we had another draw, again also against a Mooroolbark East team.

Our last game we were worried and nervous but we won.

Yay!

I am so proud of my team and that day was the best day ever.
