Wellbeing Survey and Sacrament of Confirmation
Recently, the students in MLC took part in a Student Emotion and Social Wellbeing Survey. The survey consisted of 40 questions that centered around asking the students about how they feel about particular situations.
For example, one of the questions asked “Do you enjoy coming to school?”
The survey gave the students two options: “Agree” or “Disagree”.
With our current wellbeing focus on student voice, I am very excited to be able to use the data collected from the survey to better support students’ social and emotional needs at school, in and out of the classroom.
As teachers, it is very important to us that our students feel safe, supported and cared for. It is my hope that this survey will lead to better understanding of the needs of our students and help us to cater to those needs.
I asked one of the students in MLC if she could provide me with some feedback about the survey to help me in the future.
What did you like about the Wellbeing Survey?
Some things I liked about the Wellbeing Survey is that others can’t see what you write because it is done anonymously. Another thing is that teachers can understand more about us and how we feel in different situations.
What do you hope the Wellbeing Survey will do for you or for the school?
I hope the Wellbeing Survey will help teachers understand us better and give them the information they need to help us by learning more about us.
Is there anything you would change about the Wellbeing Survey?
One thing I would like to change about the survey is there should be a in-between button because sometimes you might do something and sometimes you wouldn’t. E.g Do you solve problems without fighting? Sometimes you might, but sometimes you might fight to solve a problem.
What other questions would you like to see on the Wellbeing Survey?
Some questions I would like to see on the survey is ‘What would you do if you came across a fight or problem between your friends?’ or ‘What do you do to calm yourself down when you are angry/sad?’

Sacrament of Confirmation
As SLC prepare to celebrate their Sacrament of Confirmation, they were each asked to do a research project on a Saint of their choosing. Please enjoy the below piece from Tilly on who she chose and why.
The saint I chose for my Confirmation is St Monica. She is important because her faith and dedication to motherhood played a pivotal role in the spiritual formation of one of the most brilliant philosophers or well known saints of all time, which is St Augustine. St Monica is the patron saint of mothers. I chose St Monica because of my grandmother Monica, who people say I look a lot like, I loved and cherished her but she sadly passed away. This is a way I can remember her forever. - Tilly
