Staged Return To Onsite Learning For Our Students

Dear Sacred Heart School Community

It probably seems a long time ago, but last Sunday week our Premier gave us the news that we were all hoping for, but may not have been that confident of hearing. At his press conference he outlined the plan for our students returning to onsite learning in Term Four. The following timeline outlines the staged return for all our students. The great news is that all our students will be back onsite as a school community for the last six weeks of the school year.

From Monday 18th October

Year Prep: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday

Year One and Two: Thursday and Friday

From Monday 25th October

Year Prep: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday

Year One and Two: Thursday and Friday

Year Three and Four: Tuesday and Wednesday

Years Five and Six: Thursday and Friday

From Friday 5th November

All students back onsite full time

I am awaiting further directions from MACS specifying the protocols and procedures that will need to be in place to ensure our school community is safe, and we are COVID 19 compliant. I am assuming that they will be similar to the previous times we have returned, with an emphasis on student and staff hygiene, restrictions on gathering in larger groups, and on parents entering the school grounds, etc. There has been media coverage about schools getting air purifiers for each classroom. As soon as I get the relevant information I will keep you informed.

The first two weeks of the term will follow the same format as last term with our students of permitted workers only being at school. I am assuming that we can expect the same cohort of students at school in the first two weeks as we had last term. If however during the past two weeks your circumstances have changed, and you are no longer working from home and you do not have appropriate adults to mind your children, I ask that you email me by Saturday evening so we can arrange appropriate staff supervision at school.

In conclusion I would just like to reinforce what a great job all our parents and guardians have done during these challenging times. Your willingness to work with us during this time has made our job so much easier. Lets hope and pray the disruptions and challenges of the last eighteen months are behind us and we can enjoy some normality in our lives.
