Students in Year 8 have been using their novel study as the basis for writing poetry. Here are 2 examples of bringing the monster of nightmares to life, from the story A Monster Calls, by Patrick Ness. This novel is certainly a good read!
I am the dark ominous hole in the ground
I am the giant rocky cliff
I am the monster grasping onto the ankles of the weak
I am the wolf that kills the stag, the hawk that kills the mouse, the spider that kills the fly!
I am the real monster
I am the clouds, the ash, the dark flames,
I am everything
By Ella Faithfull
I am the one who speaks lies that seem like truth
I am the darkness and shadows
I am the one with no light
I am the one consumed in unholy fire
I am the deceiver
I am death
By Isobel Kynoch
