Visual Art News

Prior to COVID-19 Lockdown, the Year 10 Visual Art students were fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with guest artist Mark Paddick. He presented an artist talk about his own artistic practice followed by a practical workshop where students began to develop a painting based on a self-portrait for their current unit “Youth Culture”.

We would also like to congratulate Angel Butten in Year 12 who has been awarded “Artwork of the Month” for the month of August, for his sculptural form depicting a turtle shell hidden amongst the seaweed. The concept of his work is summarised in an excerpt from his artist statement, “The ambiguity of how the shell became empty insights contemplation of the many ways in which animals are silently sacrificed by humanity’s detachment from the struggles of nature.”
