Mask Wearing and COVID-19 Restrictions

Thank you to families who have been continuing to support their sons with the current mask requirements when entering and leaving the school and when using various transport modes.

The College staff have been working with the boys during breaks, reminding them about social distancing and the need to continue wearing masks in particular settings around the school environment.

Along with the reduced mask-wearing requirements and your support, the number of boys requiring extra masks during the day has decreased.

School Safety and Child Protection

At today’s Assembly, the boys were reminded about how as a school the staff, students and families work together to create a safe school environment for everyone. One topic of conversation was around the role of child safety officers. Our current school safety officers include:

  • Mr Peter Serone – Head of Students (Senior Child Safeguarding Officer)
  • Mr Bruce McPhee – Deputy Head of College
  • Mr Liam Beatty – Head of Primary
  • Mr Ty Casey – Head of Boarding
  • Ms Jennifer Smeed – Head of Senior School Curriculum

Posters have been placed around the College of these names with a photo, for ease of recognition if students require them.

Respectful Relationships Education

This week our Year 9 cohort will participate in a presentation by Real Talk. The presentation will support the work by the College through the ASH wellbeing program in addressing the topic of the influence of pornography and the impact on developing healthy and respectful relationships with others from a catholic perspective.

At the end of this term, the College has booked well-known presenter Melinda Tankard Reist to speak to the students, staff and parents on the topic of how pornography influences young people. Melinda is based in Canberra (currently under lockdown) and we are communicating with her as to whether this presentation can still go ahead.
