Spotlight On . . .

Introducing our Japanese Teacher for our 'Spotlight On' this week - Miss Michelle Lee.

Michelle was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and moved to Melbourne with her family when she was 8 years old. She comes from a big family, consisting of her parents and 3 siblings. She has an older brother, older sister, younger sister, and a dog that joined the family when Michelle was 15 years old.

Michelle started learning Japanese when she was in Grade Two and fell in love with the Japanese culture and language. She continued to study Japanese all throughout primary school, secondary school and in university. She loves exploring different cultures (in particular, the food) and enjoys learning how to speak different languages.

After graduating from university, she had the wonderful opportunity to live in Taipei, Taiwan working as an English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher. She loved every moment of her time in Taiwan and this experience helped her to establish her passion for teaching languages.

Upon returning to Melbourne, she was lucky enough to be offered a position as a teacher teaching her favourite subject Japanese! Ever since then, she decided that this was the teaching career path for her. Michelle loves being a specialist teacher at Syndal South because it means she can connect with all the students and families across the entire school community.

One of Michelle’s favourite things to do when she has free time on the weekends is to go hiking to surround herself in the tranquillity and beauty of nature. Apart from hiking, she also loves playing badminton! When she was a child, she went to weekly badminton training sessions with her siblings and now she plays for fun at social events. She also loves to bake. Some of her favourite things to bake include macaroons and white chocolate and macadamia cookies.
