The Burrunan Dolphin

Last Friday Team Green (class Sustainability leaders) spent time with Matt from the Marine Mammal Foundation who spoke about the newly discovered species of dolphin in Port Phillip Bay called the Burrunan Dolphin. Burrunan is the Aboriginal name given to dolphins meaning “name of a large sea fish of the porpoise kind” used in Boonwurrung, Woiwurrung & Taungurung languages.

Earth Hour, 8.30pm Saturday 26th March, 2023

Take time out for Nature this Earth Hour

We need to take time out for our planet. Our environment continues to degrade at an alarming pace. Eastern Australia is among the 24 global deforestation fronts, and we are the only developed nation on this list.

An estimated 200,000 trees are bulldozed in Australia every day. That’s 8,000 trees every hour.

Trees are the lungs of our planet, and we need them to help reverse the impacts of climate change. Now is the time to press Pause and work together to protect nature and restore what we have lost.

So make the time - whether it’s 60 seconds, 60 minutes or beyond the hour - to reflect on the incredible benefits nature provides us and create a better future for people and planet. Let’s take #TimeOutForNature this Earth Hour.
